Show Was this Santa for real? TRTJDELL Richard Perry was recently found guilty in circuit court on several counts of lewdness. The incident occurred on Dec. 6, at the LDS First Ward Christmas party where Perry was posing as Santa Claus. According to court records, Perry touched several youth in the buttocks region through their clothing. Perry was found guilty on count one, gross lewdness (involving someone 14 years or older). He was also found guilty on counts two, four, five and six of lewdness involving a child. All counts are class A misdemeanors. Perry was found not guilty on count three of lewdness involving a child. Sentencing is set for May 4 and Judge Payne has requested a presentence report to be prepared by the adult probation and parole office. According to County Attorney Herb Gillespie, testimony on the case went on until about 10 p.m. In Judge Payne's findings he stated, "The defendant performed an act of gross lewdness which he knew or should have known would likely cause affront or alarm to, on, or in the presence of another person per-son who is under the age of 14." Payne also ordered that Perry not have any contact with minors, other than his own family. |
