Show Consumer products recall list released Attorney General Paul Van Dam announced the release of a consumer con-sumer products recall list to assist . the public in gaining knowledge . about unsafe products. Every year, " in order to prevent injury to consumers, con-sumers, federal agencies recall or issue warnings about hundreds of products. Product hazards may occur because of design flaws, production defects, accidental contamination, tampering, unforeseen misuse of products, or failure to meet safety standards. - The consumer's role in these product safety efforts is crucial. 1 Consumers are critically important in two ways. The first is in identifying identify-ing product safety problems. The second is in responding to product safety problems. Product recalls and warnings protect pro-tect consumers only if they react to them. Usually, only two to fifty percent of recalled products in the hands of consumers are returned for refund, replacement or remedy. GECOFFEEMAKERS Certain GE brand and Universal drip coffeemakers manufactured before April 28, 1984 have been recalled. re-called. A voluntary recall of these units was launched in March 1991 by GE in cooperation with the Consumer Con-sumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
