Show Catholic Women's confab scheduled for April 25-26 Tlie Salt Lake City Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) wishes to extend an invitation in-vitation to all women in the state of Utah to attend the 1992 Catholic Women's state convention, April 25 and 26. This year's convention will be held at Seven Peaks Resort Excelsior Hotel, located at 101 W. 100 North, Provo. The theme for this 64th annual DCCW Convention Conven-tion is "Let Justice Surge like Water." The objective of the DCCW is to unite Catholic Women's organizations organiza-tions and individual women of the state of Utah in purpose, direction and action action in religious, educational, edu-cational, social and economic fields; to stimulate and develop their leadership potential; and to motivate and assist them to act on current issues in the church and society. The Salt Lake City DCCW is an affiliate of the National Council of Catholic Women, and the current president is Sheila Landry. Keynote speaker for the convention conven-tion will be the Rev. John Norman, principal of St. Joseph High School in Ogden. In conjunction with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Pope Leo XIII' s social encyclical "Rerum Novarum," the Rev. Norman Nor-man will speak on the church's social teachings, especially those dealing with women's issues. The commissions featuring workshops this year are Legislative Information, International Affairs and Leadership. The Legislative workshop will have two speakers. Gary Reynolds, director of Division Four of the U.S. Forest Service, will speak on 'Environment: Wise Use of Natural Resources"; and Bill Walsh, executive director of Utah Issues and a member of the Diocesan Dio-cesan Peace and Justice Commission, Commis-sion, will speak on "Access to Better Health Care." The leadership team of Susan Neilsen and Bobbie Hunt will present pre-sent a workshop entitled "Color Me Beautiful." The International Affairs Af-fairs workshop is proud to present Teresa Hensley, the Catholic Legal Immigrations Lawyer for Catholic Community Services. Bishop Weigand will honor the Woman of the Year from each parish at the banquet to be held Saturday Sat-urday evening at 5:30 p.m. The Convention Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Weigand at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Provo, on Sunday, April 26 at 8 a.m. Convention registrations are due April 4. The following packages are available: $55 for two-day registration, continental breakfast, lunch and Saturday banquet, Sunday breakfast. $30 for Saturday only, including in-cluding registration, continental breakfast and lunch (no banquet). $20 for Saturday banquet only. $15 for Sunday registration and breakfast Hotel rooms at the Excelsior are $50 per room, with up to four people peo-ple per room.
