Show Aluminum cans price finally goes up: You can finally get those aluminum cans out of the garage the price has gone up! According to Steve Almieri, UtahIdaho area business busi-ness manager for Reynolds Aluminum Recycling Company, the price for recycled aluminum cans has risen drastically, with the price now between 28 and 34 cents a pound depending on the size of the load. Prices for scrap aluminum (aluminum rain gutters, storm doors, lawn furniture tubing, etc.) is now at 22-27 cents per pound. Those prices are a significant increase from the 17 cents per pound which was being paid at the beginning of the year. When asked why the price was on the rise, Almieri said aluminum prices are very closely tied to the world market. 'When there is a recession or a glut of aluminum on the market, the prices go down," said Almieri. "Evidently the market has improved and we're happy to see it." Almieri was unable to forecast what would happen to the aluminum prices this summer but was "keeping his fingers crossed." k |
