Show Mrs. Clair Ashton detained Garden Club Head Mrs. Clair Ashton Avas reelected re-elected president of -the Roosevelt Roose-velt Garden Club at a meeting held at her home Monday after-non after-non Named to assist her as vice-president vice-president was Mrs. Robert Huish and re-elected secretary-treasurer was Mrs. Cliff Memmott. The group convened to discuss dis-cuss plans for completing the rose garden in the city park and to elect officers. Following the election, Mrs. Ashton appointed the following committee chairmen: chair-men: program, Mrs. Anthon Christensen; membership Mrs. Theron Leavitt; work, Mrs. Bennie Ben-nie Schmiett; and finance, Mrs. J. V. McLea. Mrs. R. S. Jordan, of the Garden Club, has accepted accept-ed chairmanship of the UBIC flower show. Everyone in the community is invited to join the club and may buy either an active or honorary membership. Memberships are again being sold to help buy additional roses for the garden, which was just half completed last summer. Nine of the sixteen plots left to plant have already been spoken for, leaving seven large beds yet to be sold. Either a $30.00 or $17.50 bed may be purchased, and one bed will be reserved for single planting for anyone wishing to buy a single rose in memory of a friend or relative. Contributions to the garden, large or small, will be greatly appreciated, stated Mrs. Ashton. Four evergreen trees have been purchased by individuals and will be planted in each corner cor-ner of the rose garden. Two evergreen shrubs will be planted plant-ed at each entrance gate. Anyone Any-one wishing to buy one of these j shrubs or contribute toward the rose garden in any way may I contact any of the officers. |
