Show Assignments Are' rade By UBIC; Slogans Come En According to Elmer Yergen-sen, Yergen-sen, 1952 UBIC president, several sev-eral slogans have been received as entries in the 1952 slogan contest, being sponsored this year. Saturday, February 19 is the deadline for slogan entries, so anyone wishing to enter still has a few more days to try to win the $50.00 engraved Lon-gene Lon-gene wrist watch being donated by the UBIC and Sather Jewelry, Jewel-ry, and being offered as the prize for the best slogan. In case duplicate slogans are submitted, the one postmarked first will be declared the winner. Several Roosevelt organizations organiza-tions have been assigned variou3 phases of the celebration and so far the following have accepted and will solicit the cooperation of clubs and organizations in Vernal, Duchesne and all other Uintah Basin communities: The Chamber of Commerce, finance; Junior Culture Club, fashion show; Garden Club, flower show to be supervised by Mrs. R. S. Jordan; Floyd Ross, talent show; Socialette, pamphlet in connection connec-tion with UBIC; and Kiwanis, publicity. Responsibility of promoting the Homecoming, a newly added feature to. the event, has been assumed by Roosevelt City. The Young Farmers will encourage en-courage all Basinites to participate partici-pate rn the three-day event by taking their lunches to the park, where it is hoped benches anu tables will be set up for this purpose. Bry Stringham, of Vernal, head of a 21-county committee, for sthe Echo Dam project, has accepted the irrigation phase of the UBIC. for 1952. As plans progress for the big three-day celebration, they will be printed in the Roosevelt Standard Stan-dard and the Uintah Basin Record. |
