A countryman, visiting London for tho first time, got Into conversation with a seedy-looking individual, and during tho conversation ho .let drop the remark that ho would not mind giving half a crown to seo a real Jon-don Jon-don sharper. "Well, keep It dark," said tho other, "but I don't mind telling you that I am one." "If that's so," said the countryman, "I suppose I'll ha' to give thee the 'arf crown." This he did with the remark, "Hut let's hae some o' thy talcs." Accordingly tho 'supposed sharper related several good yarns, and tho countryman, much pleased, said: "Well, thco must be a real London sharper. Just gle mo that 'art crown back and I'll gle threo five shillings." Without hesitation tho bogua sharper sharp-er returned tho half crown, holding out his hand for the promised five shillings. shil-lings.
