Parowan FFA experience activity week - By Steven Decker The Future Farmers of America Chapter at Parowan High School has had a busy week of activity. On Wednesday, Feb. 24, the chapter officers traveled to Enterprise to compete in the area parliamentary procedure and public speaking contest. Under the advisorship of Thales C. Brown, the team of Richard Abbott, Rick Robinson, Kay Lister, Jon Robinson,' Steve Decker and Mark Joseph, acting as chairman; placed third in the competition. ' Steve Decker placed third in the public speaking competition. Thursday evening the FFA Chapter held their annual Chapter Banquet. Featured speaker was Richard Stowell, a former FFA Chapter president from Nephi attending Southern Utah State College. Special musical entertainment was furnished by DeAnn Stapley. During the evening special recognition was accorded Howard Joseph and Klien Rollo as they were given the title of honorary members of the FFA Chapter in recogntion of their contribution to the FFA cause. In addition Parowan Merc was honored for assisting the Chapter by purchasing calendars and Ron and Chris Bakery of Cedar City was recognized for their support in purchasing a lamb at the Livestock Show and then contributing the lamb to the FFA for resale. |
