Show I Scholarships available to winners of Science and Engineering Fair Two full-tuition scholarships and trips to Denvr, Colorado for six outstanding young scientists are among the prices and awards to be given winners of the Southern Utah Regional Science and Engineering Fair March 30 at Southern Utah State College. The annual science fair features displays of winning science projects from high school and junior high schools throughout parts of Nevada, southern and central Utah which are exhibited at the SUSC War Memorial Fieldhouse. "We're very pleased once again to offer winning seniors with full-tuition scholarships to SUSC," Steve Heath, assistant professor of mathematics and fair director, said. Heath said an expected 200 participants will enter competition com-petition this year with six winners win-ners chosen to attend the National Science Fair May 9-15 in Denver. Major prizes will be offered by the armed forces, national companies and societies. An additional 12 trophies for first, second and third place winners in physical and biological sciences in both junior and senior high divisions will be awarded. "Donations from businesses and interested persons throughout our area account for many of the awards given," Heath noted. "We are continually con-tinually thankful for their interest in-terest and cooperation in the fair." Exhibits are open to visitors from 1 -8 p.m. Interested persons may also attend a banquet honoring fair participants that evening at 6 p.m. The exhibits are free to the public; the banquet is a no-host affair. "The fair is an excellent opportunity op-portunity for students to work independently on scientiiic experiments ex-periments of their own then to meet, at the annual fair, other students interested in the sciences," Heath said. |
