Show Happy Homemaking Hints by Janet H. Weaver . - - - - - Need a really special dessert? Why not try Frozen Peppermint Candies? Mrs. Penny Peterson was kind enough to share this mouthwatering dessert. Try it the next time you have company ! Frozen Peppermint Candies Mix: 30 or more finely crushed vanilla wafers with 3 tbs. melted butter. Line a 9 x 11 pan (or 2 pie pans) with the above mixture. Whip 1' 2 pints of cream and fold in cup of finely chopped peppermint candy, cup chopped walnuts, and 2 cups minature marshmellows. Pour cream mixture into the pan, sprinkle on top with vanilla wafer crumbs and freeze. Remove from freezer to one hour before serving and then top with hot fudge sauce when ready to eat. -(-Special note: The best peppermints to use come in a jar and can usually be obtained at Cowley Drug.) Hot Fudge Sauce I IV2 squares baking chocolate 1V2 cup sugar 1 cup evaporated milk dash of salt pinch of cream of tartar Melt chocolate in top of double boiler; then add sugar, salt and cream of tartar while stirring over the heat. Continue stirring while adding evaporated milk. Cook and stir to desired thickness (about 10 minutes) |
