Show Specialists selected for Cedar West Stake Art Contest Specialists have been selected for Bicentennial Contests in the Cedar City Utah West Stake. Contests in art, essay writing and poetry writing are now underway. un-derway. The contest specialists are: Art - Mike Webster; Essay -Sidney Hahne; Poetry - Inez Cooper. These Stake Specialists have completed contest rules which are now available in a special brochure. Contests are open to all persons living within the boundaries of the stake. The art contest is open to four age groups: 0-12, 13-17, 18-25 and 26 and over. Art work in all media will be accepted. The final judging will be completed by March 22, 1976, and the works exhibited on April 5 and 6 at Cedar High School. Ward specialists will assist Mr. Webster. The essay contest also includes four age groups and essays will be written on the theme, "The United States Constitution, A Glorious Standard to Us." A word limit of 750 words is set. First place essays in each age group will be read at the Stake Arts Festival, April 5 and 6. Manuscripts should be mailed or delivered to Mrs. Hahne by March 20, 1976, at 450 Circleway Drive in Cedar City. The poetry contest has four categories: I - Serious Verse, traditional form; II - Serious verse, contemporary form; III -Epic poem; and IV - Youth, any poetry form. The poetry theme is "One Nation, Under God." Winning poems in each category will be read at the Arts Festival. Manuscripts must be postmarked or delivered to Mrs. Cooper by midnight, March 20, 1976. The contests are part of the year-long Cedar West Stake schedule of Bicentennial Events under the direction of the Stake Bicentennial Committee, chaired by Cherie and Kent Myers. |
