Show Long Illness Claims Butella Halterman, Final Rites Saturday Funeral services were held on Saturday, Mar. 19, at 2 p. m. in the First-Second Ward Church here for Mrs. Butella R. Halterman, Halter-man, 70, who passed away at the Rest Home in Parowan Tuesday Tues-day evening after a long illness. The' services were conducted by Bishop Bruce Matheson of the First Ward following which burial bur-ial took place , in the Parowan City cemetery Speakers at the services were F. C. Van Buren and Jess Guy-mon, Guy-mon, with opening remarks by Bishop Matheson. The family prayer was offered by Howard Joseph, the opening prayer was given by W, Clair Rowley, the benediction by ' Amos C. Hatch, and the dedication of the grave was by a son of the deceased, Jack Halterman. Musical numbers were a vocal solo, "Oh My Father", by Howard How-ard D. Knight accompanied by Mrs. June M. Decker at the piano, and the song "Lead Me Gently Home" by a double mixed quartet quar-tet consisting of Verl Taylor, W. Clair Rowleyj Roberta Rowley, Connie Halterman, Ola Robinson, Alice Mitchell, Watson Adams and Karl Mitchell with Itha M. Mortensen at the piano. Mrs. Decker was at the organ for prelude pre-lude and postlude music. Pallbearers were sons and sons-in-law of Mrs. Halterman, Elwyn, Jack, Ralph, Bud, Robert, and Orland "Halterman; Scott L. Matheson and W. B. Fowler. Flowers were carried by nieces of the deceased and members of the First Ward Relief Society. Bertha Butella Rasmussen Halterman Hal-terman was born Aug. 20, 1895 in Parowan, a. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Rasmussen and has been a lifelong resident of this community. She was a member mem-ber of the LDS Church, serving as a Relief Society Teacher and was a Gold Star Mother in the Parowan unit of the American Legion Auxiliary. Seven of the Halterman sons served in World War II, and one, Austin, lost his life in the Pacific War Theatre. She married Robert L. Halterman Halter-man on Aug. 2, 1913 in Parowan, who survives her. Also surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Scott (Maurinet Matheson, of Parowan, and Mrs. W. B. (Lois) Fowler, El Monte, Calif.; six sons, Elwyn R., Cedar City, Robert J., Palo Alto, Calif.; Jerry J., Chico, Calif.; Major Ma-jor Daryl Ro- Germany; Joseph Bud, San Bernardino, Calif.; Orland, Or-land, Salt Lake City and Ralph M, Lynnwood, Wash. All were at home last week end with the exception ex-ception of Daryl who is with the U.S. Armed Forces in Germany. Also 23 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; a sister and five brothers, Mrs. George (Golda) BrUrter and Frank Rasmussen, Ras-mussen, Los Angeles; Otto, Bur-ley, Bur-ley, Idaho, Clayton and Morris, Parowan, and Mondell, Cedar City. |
