Show "New Math" Program Discussion Sponsored By PTA "New Math," will be the subject sub-ject of a discussion to be led Thursday, March 31 at the East Elementary by Dr. J. Richard Brown, Bngham Young University. Univer-sity. The meeting, sponsored by the East Elementary Parent Teachers Teach-ers Association will begin at 8 p. m. and will be held in the school's auditorium. All parents are invited to attend and participate. parti-cipate. Dr. Brown, a specialist in the field of mathematics will devel- j op the essentials and theory behind be-hind what is termed "new math" program, a program that will begin be-gin in the East Elementary with complete new text information at the beginning of the 1906-67 school year. Dr. Brown has conducted a number of study sessions and seminars in connection with the program and has served as a consultant to a publishing company com-pany to interest and explain math in modern texts. He is also al-so used as a resource person and consultant by many professional educators. His experience in teaching mathematics includes elementary, elemen-tary, secondary and college levels lev-els and his Doctorate work was related to the field of mathematics mathe-matics and its aplication to the classroom. |
