Show Zion Natural History Association Sponsors Southern Utah High School Poster Contest To help celebrate the 50th anniversary an-niversary of the National Park Service, established Aug. 25, 1916, the Zion Natural History Association Asso-ciation at Zion National Park is sponsoring a poster contest. Students Stu-dents in high schools in Washington, Wash-ington, Iron, and Kane Counties i are invited to submit posters which will be appropriate for ue during the celebration this summer. The winning poster will be featured in a special exhibit which will be in the Zion National Nation-al Park Visitor Center Museum. A color slide will be made of the poster for use in illustrated eve ning talks. The Zion Natural History Association As-sociation will award a certificate certifi-cate to the students submitting thee three best posters and will present the following prizes: First prize, $25 cash. Second prize, copy of "National "Nation-al Pui ks of the West". Third prize: copy or "Our Na tional Parks in Color". In addition to the awards of the students, the high schools attended at-tended by the student submitting the best poster will receive a collection of books concerning the national parks. The posters should be in color on 18" by 25 " poster board and the main theme should be the 50th Anniversary of the establishment estab-lishment of the National Park Service. Information on the N.P. S. can be found in libraries or at National Park areas. Each school will have some one, such as an art teacher, select se-lect its five best posters and notify no-tify the superintendent, Zion National Na-tional Park, Springdale, Utah, in time for them to be picked up no later than April 15. The name of the student and his school should be on the back of the poster. A special committee will select the winning posters and the winners will be announced by May 1. |
