Funds for such a service were allocated by the State Legislature Leg-islature and those funds will be used lor the maintenance pro- gram, it was pointed out. The Iron County Commission also unanimously adopted a resolution res-olution presented by Attorney Robert L. Gardner, petitioning Governor Calvin L. Hampton to i restore the stale laboratory fa-'cilities fa-'cilities at the Valley View ledi-cal ledi-cal Center. The resolution pointed.4,, out that such a facility does ndt now presently exist in- the " 'southern Utah area. ' -, ,' . Arnold O. Gurr of Parowan, a" member of the County- Planning Commission, was apomted by the commission to serve a lour year term on its board of adjustment.. Schoppman of Cedar City requested assistance' in road repairs on the old Mil-ford Mil-ford road in the Esealante Valley. Val-ley. This request was tabled pending further investigation. Scott Harton, Val Barton an,d Lester C. Williamson also met . requesting improvement of a road in the farming area of Par-agonah. Par-agonah. The group was assured of the cooperation of the county, as soon as possible, and to the extent compatible with the demands de-mands of other program projects and provided necessary rights of way could be obtained. Aliene Smith, president of the Escalante Valley Coordinating '' Council via letter, requested the commission to consider the appointment ap-pointment of a justice of the peace for that area and submitted submit-ted the name of James C. Mc- Garry as a possible appointee. After consideration the commis' ' sion expressed themselves as having no objections to the proposed pro-posed appointment, however, the commission requested addition-information addition-information from the council, advising ad-vising of the need for such an appointment. Paul Sjoblom, an assistant of the State Forestry and Fire Control Con-trol met with the commission for the purpose of discussing budgets bud-gets and programs for the 1966 year. Claude Macfarlane, jailer and custodian of the City and County Coun-ty Building in Cedar City met with the commiission to report re-port on needs for additional repairs re-pairs of the building and facilities, facili-ties, and to request the assistance assist-ance of an additional employee on a two day per week basis. Chairman Keith Smith was authorized au-thorized to meet with Cedar City Council officials to arrive at an agreeable solution in the matter. |
