Show Airplane Enthusiasts Note Growth In Local Organization Cedar City Aero Club has made some giant strides since its beginning be-ginning in J957,,artd not least among these strides Is the new-ly new-ly acquired Cessna 172, fully equipped1, 4hat. the organization now operates. When the Aero Club was-first organized In 1957 It consisted of five members and one Piper J -3 Cub, converted from a crop sprayer. In Just one year the membership of the organization had increased to-15 and a Piper Trl-Pacer had been added. When it came time to overhaul the engine in this aircraft a trade was made Instead and the club became the owner of a Boachcraft Bonanza, a 1939 model. mo-del. The Beachcraft was badly scorched In the December 1959 fire at the airport hangar before be-fore two of the club members were able to pull the craft from the flames. Facing another costly repair Job the club again traded and acquired ac-quired the Cessna 172, fully equipped, that they are now using. us-ing. This new craft has about everything that a small plane should have. At the present time the membership mem-bership of the Cedar Aero Club stands at 25. Currently serving as president is Bill Joslyn with Roper Parry as vice president and Curt Larsen as secretary and treasurer. Since the Aero Club was first formed 10 members have received receiv-ed their solo licenses and eight private pilot licenses have been earned by members.
