Over 400 representatives of parent par-ent ! teachers associations from throughout the state began gathering gath-ering In Cedar City .Wednesday for the two-day state convention j set for Thursday and Friday. ' Cedar City Central PTA Coun-cil Coun-cil is hosting the state-wide event and preparations have been completed for the first state convention of the Utah Parent-Teachers Parent-Teachers Congress to be held In the southern portion of the state. ! International representatives to the convention is Mrs. Leon F. Price of Dallas, Texas, member of the publicity committee of the National Congress of Parents Par-ents and Teachers. In addition to her duties as the official, national representative Mrs. Price will also be the featured fea-tured speaker at the banquet to be staged Thursday evening at the Cedar Slake House. Preiidlng over the two-day af fair will be DrV Ellvert H. HImes, Logan, state congress president General activities of the convention con-vention are under the co-chairmanship of Mrs. Wayne Howard How-ard and Mrs. Gordon Brlnghurst. Registration began' Wednesday Wednes-day and a state board meeUng was conducted under the direction direc-tion of Pres. Hlmes to precede the general convention activities. First general session will be held this morning, Thursdaq, at the College of Southern . Utah auditorium. Official welcome to the state delegates will be given by Mayor Arnold Anderson. ' Cedar City businesses, College of Southern Utah and the Iron County School board, along with all PTA units In Cedar City have cooperated to make the event an outstanding success. - Final session' of the confab will be held Friday forenoon and a luncheon at noon will conclude con-clude the activities. |
