Show Final Art Exhibit Program Sunday Ths 20th ?,n,,l CfiAti Citvi Spring Art Exhibit will come to a close Sunday, April 24, after two weeks In which tremendous interest has been manifested by young and old. The final program of the popular popu-lar event, a lecture by J. Richard Sorby, prominent artist and nationally na-tionally recognized designer, and for many years a popular exhibitor exhi-bitor In the annual Cedar City show, will be a fitting climax to a most successful exhibit , Mr. Sorby, formerly of. Colorado, but now a resident of California, where he is associate professor at San Jose State College, will deliver a lecture - Illustrating with slides on the processes of painting, at 4 p. m. Sunday. Mr. Sorby has won five different differ-ent awards at exhibits through out the country, has held numerous numer-ous one-man shows. Many of his paintings - have been" added to public art" collections, ' Including the Cedar -City High Schoor ind the College of .Southern Utah.) He has exhibited In shovv throughout the country, including includ-ing Washington, D. C, Philadelphia, Philadel-phia, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Omaha, Cleveland, Michigan, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico -and many others, and was nominated for national competition, Ford Foundation Awards, in 1958. The wide ranges of paintings on exhibit this year, always an outstanding feature of the Cedar City event, has again attracted wide' attention with many art lovers traveling long distances to visit the exhibit, and with people peo-ple of this area from the youngest young-est students to adults visiting the exhibit individually and In groups and spending long hours studying the works of many noted not-ed artists. Four days remain, today, to-day, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sun-day, before the paintings are packed for return to their owners.', own-ers.', The exhibit will be open from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. each day except Sunday, when It will be open from 2 p.' m. until 9 p.' m. |
