Show Gloria Dotson Writes Prize-Winning Song for Social Unit ! if I I ' GLORIA DOTSON Miss Gloria Dotson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Dotson of Cedar City, won top honors at the annual "songfest" at Brigham Young University at Provo, which was held recently. Miss Dotson, a senior student at the university, composed an original song for her social unit, the "Val Norns" which won first place in the women's division. Sixty girls from the unit sang the winning song 'The Prize." They were directed by Nancy Barnes and Gloria' played the accompaniment. "Songfest" is a tradition in the Dotson family, Gloria having hav-ing won second' place last year with an original song "John Law," which she wrote for the "Van Norns.'' A sister, Audrey, won second and third place honors with her original songs which she wrote for her social unit, the "Nautilus." "Nautil-us." She attended BYU in 1952-53. |
