Show Educational Meeting Held for County Cancer Work Iron County Cancer committeemen commit-teemen and community workers assembled in Cedar City Friday, Feb. 21 for a training meeting under the direction of county chairman, Mrs. P. U. Webster. Representatives from Cedar City, Ci-ty, Parowan, Paragonah, Kanar-raville, Kanar-raville, Newcastle, Enoch and Midvalley were in attendance at the training session in addition to members of the county committee. com-mittee. A film was shown at the meeting meet-ing depicting the work beins; done by tho American Cancer Society and other organizations in attempting to find a cure for cancer. In addition Dr. A. L. Noorda. physician working with the committee, com-mittee, discussed what cancer is, what are the most common types of cancer for men. women and children, what are the first "danger" "dan-ger" signals, and fatality rates for various types of cancer. Dr. Noorda stressed to the workers the importance of educating edu-cating the general public to the necessity to check with their physicians for the various dan ger signals of cancer. Short talks were given also by other members of the county committee dealing with their re-spective re-spective assignments throughout the county. Mrs. Alta Johnson, education chairman for the cour.iy committee com-mittee indicated that organiza tions and groups who are Interested Inter-ested in any phase of cancer, who are after films or program should contact her, as a number of excellent programs and films are available. Organization has also begun for the annuual Cancer Crusade for funds which will be conducted conduct-ed during the month of April. County chairman is Blaine Stap-ley. |
