Black Knights Win City League Title Black Knights, sponsored by aj group of down-town businesses, walked off with the 'Cedar City Basketball league championship Thursday by virtue of an over, time win over the Elks Club.' Score of the game was 35 to 33. At the end of regulation play the two teams had scored 31. points each. The loss by the Elks forced them Into a tie for second place with Pat and Mikes. In a play-! off Tuesday evening Pat and Mikes came from behind in the I final quarter of play to defeat the Elks by a score of 52 to 44 toi force the Elks crew into third place. A play-off for fourth and fifth place saw Thompson Office de- feat Thorley Motor Company to1 the tune of 43 to 35. Last but not least was the Junior Chamber of Commerce who also sponsors the1 league play each season. I In winning the championship the Black Knights and Elks played on fairly even terms throughout the game. The Black, Knights took a first quarter lead of 7 to 5 and maintained a sin-J gle point lead of 16 to 15 at In termission time. Elks then forged ahead in the third quarter to take a 23 to 20 lead. In the final period the two teams tied it up at 31-all and Gary Johnson, Black Knight, and high point man on the court tanked a field goal and two foul pitches to lead his team to the two point victory, 35 to 33. Dale Langston was high man for the Elks with 13 counters. The Elks lost Langston in the final quarter quar-ter along with Dallas Imlay, via the foul route In the plavoff for second place Tuesday evening Pat and Mikes overcame a 19 to 8 deficit t halftime to garner second spot from the Elks in a final 52 to 44 victory. Pat and M'ke nut on a fourth quarter scoring spree to garner the victory tanking 29 points in the elfht minute period. Eric Clark led tr. attarV with in on five fieldoals and Ted Atherlev and Sheldon Hefner each added seven on threo field goals and a foul pitch each. Elks mainta'ned their lead lead through th third period to hold a 28 to 22 margin going into the fourth period.
