A h gh number of traffic violations vio-lations take place in front of the West Elementary School. A few weeks ago a survey was taken and the results showed 71 pupils u-ere driven to school and cf these 71 drivers f2 violated safety safe-ty laws. The largest number if violations were cars traveling north crossing in front of traffic traf-fic to get on the west side of the street to let their children out. Were you gu'ltv? Is it worth a chance of possibly lrjt"-ing children out where they haw to some one seriously. Another violation is letting cross the street without being on a crosswalk. It is also illegal to U turn to get to the west side of the street. Many cars park with the rear end of the car protruding into the street. Many parents are not careful to sec that their children emerge from the vehicle on the side nearest the sidewalk. These are ;ome of the violations that parents par-ents should be careful not to commit. The traffic officials, school officials, of-ficials, and PTA officers would like parents to study the map above and observe the traffic lanes that are marked by heavy lines. By following these lines you can find the route that would be the most convenient for you and also help eliminate traffic traf-fic hazards. The places marked with an X are the suggested places to let children out of cars. Even when using crosswalks, children should be taught the proper way to cross the streets. Observing safety laws and teaching them to your children will help prevent accidents. |
