They were selected se-lected at a special contest held Thursday, Independence Day in Cedar City Ci-ty will again this year be jam-packed jam-packed with activities for young and old in the second annual presentation under the guidance of BI'OE Lodge No. 155G of Cedar Ce-dar City in cooperation wjth other oth-er civic groups. Activities for the celebration will get under way on Thursday evening July 3 with the staging of a boxing card under the auspices aus-pices of the Elks Lodge and the College of Southern Utah athletic athle-tic department. Featured attraction attrac-tion of the card will be the appearance ap-pearance of Kent Hoyt, Cedar City, Ci-ty, against Drew "Andy" Jackson of Montgomery, Ala., in 10 rounds of boxing. Semi-main event will pit Armand Cadol against another an-other Alabama lad, Jimmy Lewis, Lew-is, In a six round go. On July 4 a 21 gun saltute at 6 a. m. will get this under way with activities planned for the remainder of the day. Lady Lions annual miniature parade will get under way at 9 a. ; m. and a host of outstanding ' floats from businesses and civic groups are expected for this ' event. Theme of the parade will be Land of Make Believe with other divisions In Patriotic and nursery rhyme sections. Royalty for the parade was selected at a special contest held Thursday evening at the Second Ward Chanel Cha-nel and four year-old Julie Ol son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Corry Olson was named queen with five year old Kent Bladen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Bladen, Blad-en, chosen as king. Attendants to the king and queen will be Deborah Deb-orah Bunting, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Buntir.?, and Dale Cowley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dex Cowley. A float entered by the Lady Lions will carry the royalty and they will lead the parade A patriotic program will commence com-mence immediately following the parade on the city park and the ; Elks Club will open their concession con-cession stands at the park at that time. At approximately 10:30 foot races for youngsters from four to nine years of age will be staged at the park and at noon races for 10 through 17 years of age will get under way plus a greased greas-ed pole climbing contest and bicycle races. Junior Legion baseball team will furnish entertainment dur-! dur-! ins the afternoon witn a game I scheduled to begin at 3 p. m. on the municipal diamond. They will meet White Pine Junior Leg-Innaires Leg-Innaires of Nevada. I Iron Rangers will take over (the activities during the early evening hours with their second annual rodeo to be held at the Ranger's rodeo grounds Just be-I be-I hind Milt's Stage Stop in Cedar Canyon. Grand entry is set for 6:45 p. m. with rodeo to begin ! promply at 7 p. m.
