Show Illness Claims Fred Slack, Services Held Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed in the Fifth Ward Chapel Saturday for Fredric Allen Slack, 61, who died Wednesday, Dec. 16, at his home following an Illness of several weeks. Mr. Slack was born in Toquer-vllle Toquer-vllle on Oct. 25, 1903, a son of Vernon F. and Encora Allen Slack. He married Marcella Perry, Per-ry, Cedar City, on March 24, 1922. The marriage was later solemnized solem-nized in the St. George LDS Temple. He has served as division manager man-ager of the California-Pacific Utilities Co., for the past 35 years. Active in public affairs, he had served as a member of the board of directors of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, and as district chairman of the Republican Republi-can party. Survivors Include his widow, the following sons and daughters: daugh-ters: Dr. Derald A. Slack, Fay-etteville, Fay-etteville, Ark.; Mrs. Ralph (Car-ma) (Car-ma) Hulet, Parowan; Mrs. Clark Shirleen Newell, Mona, Utah; Wendell, Gordon and Jay Slack, all of Cedar City. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and the following fol-lowing brothers and sisters: Mrs. Arthur (Ada) Perry, Mrs. Ernest (Viola) Bauer; Vernon Slack, Morgan Slack, Cedar City, and E. J. Slack, Henderson, Nevada. Speakers at the services were James Heywood and George D. Grlmshaw, with remarks by Bp. Ray Baumgartner, who conducted the services. Invocation was by Ray Melting, benediction by McKay Mc-Kay Smith, and dedication of the grave by Bishop Allen Bauer. The prayer at the mortuary prior to the services was by Harry Lunt. The musical program included a song, "When It's Springtime in the Rockies," by employees of the power company; a vocal solo, "Whispering Hope," by George Clove, accompanied by Donna Sandberg; and a vocal quartet, "Abide With Me," by Mamie Eck, Lois McConnell, Wm. A. Condie and Herscfiel Neeley. Prelude and postlude music was by Belle Jones. |
