Saturday's loss was the first of i the season for Basic High. Friday the Redmen ran up I against a full court press lor the ' first time this season resulting In j a difficult time controlling the I ball. I Both teams had trouble hang-' hang-' ing on to the basketball, but, as Coach Richard Hubbs stated af-; af-; ter the game, it can't be too bad ( when you consider that we had a 66 point output. Regardless, the Redmen didn't j look good in scoring this victory. Bruce Holmes led all scorers with a 21 point output, but here again ho had trouble controlling the ball on a number of fast breaks ' and drives that could have up-i up-i ped his scoring considerably. Bad passes in the backcourt I against the full court press cost I the Redmen. Millard was also having its problems with one of the most set type of pattern In high school ball that we have seen this early In the season. Saturday the Redmen looked much better but were pushed much closer by the Wolves of Basic High School. A highlight of the game was the performance of Brad Isom, who came off the bench in the third period to spur the Redmen on the victory. He was particularly particu-larly effective from the foul line as he tanked eight In a row from the charity lane to keep the Redmen In the game. The game was actually won at the foul lane. The Redmen hit 17 of 24 for a 70.8 percentage clip, while the visiting Wolves were at 64 percent with 12 of 19.
