Show Church and School Christmas Programs Entertain Residents Residents of the Parowan area have certainly had the opportunity opportuni-ty to hear Christmas Music In 1U many forms during the past week end. Beginning Friday night at the Elementary School, a very fine program was presented by children. chil-dren. A special program was given giv-en by students of the kindergarten kinder-garten under the direction of Miss Helen Stones. The fourth, fifth and sixth grades combined to present a pageant depicting Christmas customs in other lands. A large chorus of students under the direction of Mrs. Roma Jer-sent, Jer-sent, Boyd Robinson and Chester Benson, sang many of the favorite favor-ite Christmas carols. The evening was completed as parents and public visited the rooms and admired the colorful decorations after which refreshments refresh-ments were served by members cf the Parent-Teachers Association. Sunday evening the Third Ward choir presented a Christmas Cantata, "The Music of Christmas" Christ-mas" under the direction of Mrs. Vyonne Chamberlain. Worked into in-to the cantata numbers were appropriate ap-propriate scriptural readings by Boyd Mitchell, with a Christmas Story given by Mrs. Jean Hen-dtlckson Hen-dtlckson and a Christmas Prayer given was given by Mrs. Delia Gurr. On Monday evening the Parowan Paro-wan High School music department depart-ment under the direction of Robert Rob-ert Potter, presented its annual Christmas program. Using the Junior band, the newly organized orchestra, a girls' chorus, a mixed mix-ed chorus, the dance band and senior band, along with some specialty groups, Mr. Potter presented pre-sented an evening of favorite carols car-ols and popular songs of Christmas. Christ-mas. The over 100 member mixed chorus, of which 35 were boys, just about brought the house down with its rendition of "O Holy Night." And it pleased the audience which entirely filled fill-ed the bleachers on the east side of the gym where the program was held, to see in the small string group what they hope will be the beginning of a concert orchestra or-chestra at the school. All of these programs were well attended and all were certainly certain-ly enjoyable to the public and have added much to the Christmas Christ-mas Season. |
