Show Daniel M. Jones Called by LD S Church -To Serve in South African Mission Field A farewell testimonial will be held Sunday, Dec. 27, at 7 p. m. In the Cedar Fifth Ward chapel to honor Elder Daniel Macfarlane : Jones prior to his departure to the South African mission field for the Church of Jesus Christ of Lat-, ter-day Saints. I Elder Jones Is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer S. Jones and was born and raised In Cedar City. The missionary was active In many and varied activities while in high school He served as president pres-ident of his sophomore class and was elected to attend Utah Boys' State in 196Z He was active In athletics as a starter on the football foot-ball and basketball teams, and took part in many assemblies and student activities. He served as the studentbody president of the Cedar Seminary during the 1961-62 school year, and graduated, after four years of training, from this Institution in 1963. Immediately following graduation, gradua-tion, Elder Jones entered the military mili-tary service and received six months active duty training at - Fort Ord, Calif. He Is now a member mem-ber of the Utah National Guard. Elder Jones has completed one full year at the College of Southern South-ern Utah and the Institute of Religion, Re-ligion, and is an honor student .. f V Jul. ELDER DANIEL M. JONES He acted as a co-chairman of the very successful 1964 Homecoming Homecom-ing activities at the college. The speakers at Elder Jones' farewell will Include Miss Cheryl Brown, Bishop Thomas J. Jones, and Brother Boyd Beagley. Special Spe-cial music numbers will be rendered ren-dered by Lory and Belinda Nlel-son, Nlel-son, Miss Jo Ann Duncan, and Miss Sharon Church. |
