Show Homo Decorators Thanked for Holiday Decorations With the holiday season in full swing the Cedar City Beautlflca-tion Beautlflca-tion Committee feels Is appropriate appropri-ate to give this week's "Bouquet of Thanks" to all those who have gone to the extra effort, the extra time and expense of decorating their homes on the outside as well as the Inside. Residents of the area are urged to drive around Cedar City just to see all the beautiful exterior decorations. You'll find It very rewarding, just as the members of the Bcautlfl-cation Bcautlfl-cation Committee have. So this week our "Bouquet of Thanks" goes to all who have decorated their homes on the outside to make Cedar City more beautiful and festive for the holidays. This week's tip: Homeowners often have questions ques-tions concerning the pruning of shade trees and the best time to prune. Deciduous trees may be pruned any season, although it is easier to visualize ihe shape ot the tree If you prune after the leaves have fully developed. Tines and other needle leafed evergreens may be pruned in late winter, in spring bei'ore or at the time growth begins, or in mid- summer. If pruned just before growth begins In spring, new foliage rapidly covers pruning cuts. Evergreens of the aborvaltae type may be pruned or sheared at any time. J-ate summer shearing may stimulate new growth that Is suseptible to greeze and Injury. For more information on methods meth-ods and equipment, Wallace Sjoblom, U. S. U. Extension Agent, suggests that you drop in at the Iron County Extension Of-i Of-i fice and ask for the Bulletin on , "Pruning Shade Trees." |
