The new Student Center is completed and read yfor occupancy upon the return of students from the Christmas Holidays. Open House will be held January 5. January Open House Set for New College Student Center Building Dedication ceremonies and ac-, tivities have been set for College of Southern Utah newest campus addition, the Student Center, it was announced this week by Dr. Royden C. Braithewaite, director. The new student center will j open its doors to students and the public on January 5 and the official ribbon ceremony has been set on that date for 3 p. m. The new Student Center for merly was the gymnasium on the campus and since the construction con-struction of the CSU fieldhouse i has housed a series of other activities ac-tivities and departments on the campus. Remodeling and additions addi-tions that have just been completed, com-pleted, however, make the center a truly great addition to the campus. Director Braithwaite pointed out. This new addition to the fast growing campus of CSU will house the officers of the student. leaders and committee rooms. One large room will be devoted to student council activities. A dance studio has been built on the top floor. This room can also be used for a ballroom. An open air terrace leads to the outside. out-side. A lounge will provide a place j for students to meet and relax. The bookstore, cafeteria, and I snack bar will also be housed in the new building. Construction of the remodeling and addition was by Blackburn and (lower of Cedar City. On the afternoon of the open house ceremonies, tours will be conducted throughout the building build-ing and all rooms will be opened and in use. In the game room students will participate in tournaments of billiards, chess, ping-pong and other activities and special prizes pri-zes will be awarded during the day. Light refreshments will also be served. The highlight of the day's activities ac-tivities will be a dinner-dance at 9:00 p. m. Inside the decorated ballroom a combo will provide the music. |
