Show Iron County Studies Participation in Rain Making Program The question of Iron County's participation with other counties in a "rain-making" contract during the coming year, was discussed dis-cussed at length at the meeting of the Board of Iron County Commissioners Com-missioners Monday, but definite action was not taken. A number of counties of the southern Utah area have approved ap-proved renewing the contract with the Water Resources Development Devel-opment Corporation for increasing increas-ing precipitation, and final action ac-tion is awaiting the decision of the remaining counties. Representatives of the Development Develop-ment Corporation report that Grand, Wayne, Juab, Sevier, Beaver, Bea-ver, Washington and Millard counties have .definitely approved ap-proved participation, although the total amount each will furnish fur-nish on the project has not yet i been determined. They also re- port that favorable reports have come from Garfield, Kane and Emery counties, but that final action has not been taken by the commissioners in these counties. It is understood that the University Uni-versity of Utah will continue with an evaluation study of the benefits derived from the rain making project in the past two years. However, the results of this study cannot be made available avail-able in time to influence decisions deci-sions on this year's program. Members of the Iron County board report that plans are under un-der way to formulate a county water board to study ways and means of Increasing water resources re-sources of the county. The water board would be composed of representatives rep-resentatives of irrigation companies com-panies and the various communities communi-ties of the county. |
