Show Former Record Editor Killed in Auto-Pedestrian Auto-Pedestrian Accident Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed in Salt Lake City yesterday lor Charles Stephens Wilkinson, 79, long time resident of Cedar City and former editor and publisher pub-lisher of the Iron County Record. Mr. Wilkinson died late Saturday Satur-day night of injuries received earlier in the evening when he was struck by an automobile as he was crossing a street in Salt Lake City. He died of a com- pound leg fracture, head injur-, injur-, ies and probable internal injuries. injur-ies. , Investigating, officers report that Mr Wilkinsnn was walking east across Second East street In a pedestrian cross walk, when he was struck by a southbound car. Mr. Wilkinson spent many years In the newspaper business, most of it in Cedar City, where he was associated with the Iron County Record in different capa-5 capa-5 cities from printer, to editor and i publisher. He also served for shorter periods on the old Dixie j Advocate, the San Juan Record and the Beaver Press, During his residence here he also operated a general store for a Jew years and served as postmaster post-master for a time. In recent years he has been living in Salt Lake I City and has operated an agency for the sale of machinery. ., He was bom in Hebron,. Wash- tngton county, and spent his boyhood days in Leeds. He married mar-ried Berilla A. Alexander "in Ce- dar City in 1897. j He is survived by his widow, j three sons Charles A. Wilkinson, Salt Lake City; Ralph W. Wilk-i Wilk-i inson, Ogden, and Rulon Wilkin- son, Richland, Wash., by three daughters, Mrs. Vera W. Gray and Mrs. Nellie W. Carlson, .Salt j Lake City, and Mrs. Mary W. I Jepperson, Sacramento, Calif. , He is also survived by 16 j grandchildren and eight great-! great-! grandchildren; four brothers, Dr. H. H. Wilkinson and M. W.
