Show Cooperation Urged There is perhaps no more worthy cause than the annual an-nual sale of poppies for the welfare of disabled veterans, and their dependants, who have suffered severe sacrifice in the defense of their country. The making of the poppies by the disabled veterans gives them an opportunity for useful effort for their own benefit and for the benefit of families of men who gave their lives in battle The money raised from the sale of the poppies, although the contribution contri-bution from each individual is very small, makes possible many very worthy welfare programs. However, in recent years a situation of conflict between sponsoring organizations has developed in Cedar City, and we suppose in other sections, that should be corrected. In recent years conflict on the sale of poppies has become be-come more pronounced, until the two sponsoring organizations organiza-tions are not only sponsoring entirely separate campaigns but are in open controversy over wno originated me iaea of the poppy sale and who should get the credit. In the matter of publicity, instead of attempting to build up good will for a most worthy and deserving cause, the trend instead has been to seek credit for one or the other organization. Who cares who thought of the idea first, or which group makes the best poppy? It is a wonderful program, and everyone wants to buy a poppy to in some small way help some unfortunate veteran vet-eran who must spend his days in a hospital because he took up a rifle and went onto the battle field to fight to protect our homes. It is time jealouses bbetween organiza- tions were forgotten and everyone worked together to sell more and more poppies and do as much good as possible for those who. need help and encouragement. |
