' tl - rAt -.ml' A V, J' ' fit v'-Jri;- A new garbage disposal unit has been put into operation at Branch Agricultural college this week, announced Hazen Cooley, purchasing agent. Prof. Eugene Hardy, of the mechanic me-chanic arts department, flew to Knoxville, Tenn., and drove the large truck to B A C last week. Called the Dempster Dumpster, the unit consists of a large truck equipped with a hydraulic loading load-ing crane and five large refuse containers. Each of the containers contain-ers will hold several cubic yards. Four of the five units are completely com-pletely enclosed, so as to be fly-tight. fly-tight. They are placed near the men's and women's dormitories and the cafeteria kitchen. The fifth unit is an ODen container I for cinders from the heating plant. The truck is designed so it can be backed up to the units when they are full, lift them onto the chassis, and dump them at the garbage dump, -all without their being touched by hand. It is the most modern and sanitary garbage gar-bage disposal system of its kind available. Purchase of -the Chevrolet truck chassis was arranged through the state purchasing department, and the truck was sent to the home plant of the company who manufacture the units. This unit will replace the old open containers for trash and the numerous garbage cans which had been used before, and makes a considerable improvement In the- efficiency and sanitation of the garbage disposal problem; according ac-cording to Mr. Cooley. |
