Show Zane Hamblin Draws Jail Sentence In Manslaughter Case Zane Hamblin of Cedar City began serving a four months sentence sen-tence in the City and County jail at Cedar City this week, after having been found guilty of. involuntary in-voluntary manslaughter after facing trial in the District Court on a charge of manslaughter. Hamblin was arraigned on the manslaughter charge as the result re-sult of the death of Owen Barton Bar-ton of Cedar City, who died of Injuries suffered when the de-1 fendant knocked him to the pavement after Barton had intervened inter-vened in a quarrel between Hamblin and a lady employee of a local beer parlor. Hamblin was alleged to have slapped the lady who had asked him to leave the olace. When Barton remonstrat ed with him, Hamblin struck ! Barton with the resulting injury from the fall. A jury of two women and six men, who heard the case returned re-turned the verdict of guilty of involuntary manslaughter, and , recommended leniency. I The defendant was sentenced to serve one year in the county jail, with eight months of the sentence suspended, apparently! because of the leniency recommendations. |
