Show Max S.Dalley Named Parowan Hiqh School Head i I t! MAX S. DALLEY At the regular May meeting of the Iron County board of education, educa-tion, held Monday, Max S. Dal-ley, Dal-ley, mathematics and social science sci-ence instructor at the Parowan high school was named as the new principal of the institution. Mr. Dalley will succeed Walter K. Daly, who is leaving at the end of this school year to become principal at the Cyprus high school at Magna. Mr. Dalley began his teaching duties in the Iron County school district at Beryl when 17 years of age, upon his graduation from the Branch Agricultural college. He was moved to the Parowan elementary school at Christmas time in 1936 to teach in the sixth grade and has been here since except for his time spent in the armed forces. Mr. Dalley taught in the grade school until 1941 when he left to study at the BY U where he received his bachelor's degree. On receiving his degree he was called to military duty, and spent almost five years in the service, one and one half years of which was in Europe. He taught one more year in the elementary ele-mentary grades upon his return and then went into the high school. He took a sabbatical leave in 1949 and attended the University of Southern California where he received his master's degree with an administrator's certificate. He returned home only on-ly to be called back into service in 1950, spending 1951 in Korea with the Utah National Guard. He returned to the school last year as an instructor. He was married to Miss Roma Bentley during World War II and they have three sons, one of which was born only a few weeks ago. |
