Show I Safety Chairman Issues Pedestrian Warning "Don't try to bluff the guy In the car!" That traffic safety tip was passed pas-sed along to pedestrians today by Al Jensen, Chairman, Cedar City Safety Committee. Mr. Jensen Jen-sen spoke on behalf of the Pedestrian Ped-estrian Safety program of the committee and the National Safety Safe-ty Council. "An automobile weighs about 3,000 pounds," Jensen said, "and that's a lot more than the average av-erage walker weighs. A smart walker won't take any chances with such heavy odds against him." He advised walkers to give the automobile the right of way every ev-ery time, pointing out that the cemetery is crowded with pedestrians ped-estrians who had the right of way. "The months ahead with their Increased hours of darkness, their inclement weather, and their holiday hol-iday making are especially dangerous dan-gerous for pedestrians," Jensen said. He urged walkers to be constantly con-stantly on the alert and to realize real-ize that drivers can't see them well in darkness or In snowy or rainy weather. The safety chairman ,'isted the most dangerous pedestrian habits hab-its as: crossing between Intersections, Intersec-tions, entering the street from behind parked cars, and not looking look-ing both ways before stepping off the curb. |
