Show I Voice of Democracy Winners Address Kiwanians John Muir and Winnie Hey-wood, Hey-wood, Cedar City high school students stu-dents who placed first and third, respectively, in the recent Junior Chamber of Commerce Voice of Democracy contest, were guest speakers at the regular meeting of the Kiwanis Club Monday evening eve-ning In keeping with the patriotic theme young Kenneth McKnight from the junior high school, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Beth Leigh, rendered two vocal numbers. Harry Ahlstrom, vice president, wnr in charge of the meeting and McPay Cloward, Kiwanian who was chairman of the contest for ti.e Jaycees introduced the pro-ijium pro-ijium for the evening. Mr. Muir, who has been in the United States for only four months, traced the democratic plan from the ancient civilization of Grt ece to the present day. His speech, which was recorded and sent to the Utah Jaycee's for com-j com-j petition, listed our democratic I plan as one of the reasons why I lie left England to live in the I United States. ; Mr. Muir is presently living : with Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Knell ' of Cedar City and Miss Heywood ; is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ('Jim Heywood, also of Cedar City. |
