Show I Broncos Capture Two More Season Victories The College of Southern Utah basketball team added two more victories to Its early season record rec-ord this week, trimming Westminster West-minster College at Salt Lake City Monday night and the Hill Field team at Ogden Tuesday night. Friday night the Broncos will again appear before the home fans, meeting the Chaffey college col-lege team from Ontario, Calif., in vhat will probably be their toughest assignment of the cur-ent cur-ent season to date. Saturday the 3ronco! will play a return engagement en-gagement with the Westminster Parsons. Both games will be ;layed in theCSU memorial field-louse. field-louse. This will be the last hance to see the team in action ac-tion before the Bronco Invitational Invita-tional tournament on Dec. 21, 22 and 23, since Coach Petty's team will spend next week in California. Califor-nia. Participating In the three-day, six-team invitational tournament besides the Broncos will be Dixie, Dix-ie, Westminster of Utah, Ricks of Idaho, and San Bernardino and Fullerton of California. The Broncos took the measure of the Westminster Tarsons Monday Mon-day by a score of 62 to 49 jumping jump-ing into a 15 to 8 first quarter lead and holding the advantage throughout, although the Parsons narrowed the gap to 27 to 25 just before the end of the first half. Jerry Conger led the scoring in this game with 17 points, with the :emainder of the scoring well divided. Tuesday night the Broncos pulled away from the Hill Field team in the second half, after a close first half battle, to win by a score of 70 to 54. Larry Crawford Craw-ford jumped Into the scoring lead In this game, ringing up 16 points, with Craig Jones and Garth Fisher following with 13 and 10 points respectively. The Broncos oiitscored the Flyers from the field, 28 goals to 20. Coach Petty's squad held a 16-10 lead at the end of the first suar-ter, suar-ter, but the score was tied 32-all at the half. The Broncos rang up 20 points in the third period and 18 in the final quarter to win handily. |
