Show Rams Victorious In Practice Hoop Encounters Tlie Parowan high school basketball bas-ketball team opened its practice scat-on last week end, playing two game both on the local floor and showed up fairly well in taking tak-ing wins from two opponents from over on the other side of the mountain. , On Friday night Coach Bruce Decker's Rams took an early lead and went on to defeat the Gunnison Gun-nison high school team by a 41 to ' 31 score. The Rams scored lirst jaiul held a 10 to 7 lead at the etui of the first quarter and were ahead 21 to 14 at halftime. This loud was lengthened to 32 to 21 at the third quarter rest, and was maintained throughout the final quarter. j The next night the Rams entertained enter-tained an up-and-coming quintet from the Piute County high : school at Circleville and wore hard pressed during the first half of the game. The Rams took a 8 to 5 lead in the first quarter and clung to it most of the way in the second quarter only to see the Circleville lads close the gap lard go into the lead at the half, to 18. i The Rams went on a scoring 'spree in the third quarter, rolling in 21 points to seven for the visitors to take a 39 to 28 lead at the end of that quarter as the Circieville boys faded. Play remained re-mained about even in the final period as Coach Decker tried out several other combinations and two of the Rnm players fouled out of the game. Coach Decker cut his squad to 12 men just before last week';; games, which number will be carried throughout the league season. Members of the squad at present are Roy Benson, David I Orion, Melvin Hyatt, Tommy Do-'brusky, Do-'brusky, Gale Stolks, Rodney Bent-ley, Bent-ley, Larry King, Eric Clark, Lyle Mortennen. This week end sees the Rams going away from home to play the Lincoln County high school ttam at Panaca, Nev. on Friday night, and then returning home j lor a Saturday night encounter with their arch rivals, the Cedar City Redmen. |
