Show Cedar City Council Members Discuss Omitted Fire Regulations Revisions, Garbage Fence Members of the Cedar City Council who sat at the regular bi-monthly meeting last Thursday, Thurs-day, Dee. 3, discovered that the recent revision of the ordinances in respect to fire regulations were omitted. Other action on the agenda included the reading of a letter from the Southern Utah Tower Co., on the city proposed study of power rates within the city. Fencing Fenc-ing of the new garbage dump on the southwest of Cedar City was also discussed and the council okeyed a city survey and urged that the city manager get the project under way as soon as possible. pos-sible. In regard to the fire regulations regula-tions of the city the council took immediate action recommending the city attorney, Patrick H. Fen-ton, Fen-ton, through a study of old ordinances or-dinances and other cities' policies poli-cies to bring the fire regulations up to date. In a leUer, signed by Warren II. Bulloch, president of the Southern Utah Power Co., tho council was informed of definite action that had been taken since the recommendations of the council for a power rate study. According to Mr. Bulloch, "It was the opinion of the members of the board after a lengthy discussion, dis-cussion, that a rate study be started immediately with the following fol-lowing objectives in mind. . "1. To determine the cost to serve all classes of customers. "2. To develop the differenial in cost of service to customers in and near Cedar City compared com-pared with the balance of the system. "3. To propose revised rate schedule which will be equitable aind promotional." Mr. Bulloch also stated in his letter to the council that "the study is a major undertaking, involving the analysis in many cases of customer usage by accounts. ac-counts. However, we anticipate that this study will be completed in early 1954 and at that time I will be glad to discuss the study stu-dy with you in detail." City Engineer Browning Piatt presented estimates for the fencing fenc-ing of the new garbage dump that consisted of 300 steel poles, GOO feet of woven wire, and 4188 feet of net wire. It was pointed out that this would fence the dump site only, as the county has agreed to fence the road leading lead-ing to the dump from the point where it leaves Highway 91 to the site. Two members of the council were excused for the regular session ses-sion with Mayor L. V. Broadbent and three councllmen in attendance. |
