Show Voice of Democracy Contest Winners Address Lions Club Monday I .Members of the Cedar City Lions Club were entertained last A'eek by students of the Cedar 3ity high school who have won honors in the recent Junior Chamber of Commerce "Voice of Democracy Contest." I John Muir first place winner, ' i and Winnie Heywood, third place winner in the locally sponsored contest gave their speeches at the meeting. Musical entertainment was furnished by Virginia Rose who gave a vocal solo. She was accompanied by Jane Fuller. Roland Palmer, second place winner, was not present at the meeting, it is understood, because of illness. Miss Heywood and Mr. Muir both gave impressive speeches on what democracy means to us in the present day. Subjects for compositions were based on the individual's own judgment with the theme "Democracy" set by the contest rules. I Next Monday noon at the regular reg-ular meeting of the organization Mrs. Boyd Rollins of the Cedar City schools will address the ' group, discussing her tour of Europe Eu-rope during the summer months. |
