Show FLAG DAY PROGRAM SLATED BY ELKS SHOW COLORS FLAG DAY -1mie14ki Haldow E. Chrlstensen, exalted ruler of the Elks Club in Cedar City, announced this week that a Flag Dad ceremony will be sponsored spon-sored on Tuesday, June 14 at the Cedar City municipal park at 6 p. m. - In commemoration of National Flag Day, celebrated throughout the country on June 14, the local lo-cal B P O E Lodge No. 1556 has asked that businesses and residents resi-dents of the city fly the flag on that particular day. As a climax to the day's program pro-gram a flag day ceremony will be held at the park. In addition to the history of the flag, a combined com-bined Cedar Junior and senior high band will perform under the direction of Eugene Helland. Principal speakers for the occasion oc-casion will be local Elks Joe Fak-ler Fak-ler and Warren Bulloch. As a special feature of the day Cedar City Cleaners are offering of-fering to clean flags free of charge if they are brought to their establishment The program, Chrlstensen said, is being sponsored In connection with the U S A B P O E "Show Your Colors" campaign. In a message to all lodges, William Wil-liam J. Jarnick, grand exalted ruler of B P O E said "Tuesday, June 14 will mark the 178th anniversary an-niversary of the adoption by the Continental Congress of the Stars and Stripes as the flag of our country. "On that day every good American Amer-ican can demonstrate that he is glad to be a citizen of the country, coun-try, proud of the principles of liberty and Justice for which it stands, by the act of publicly displaying dis-playing our Flag." With this principal in mind officers of the local lodge are sponsoring their program and ask everyone to "show your colors" col-ors" on Tuesday, June 14, National Na-tional Flag Day. |
