Show Little League Teams See Action Throughout Week TEAM STANDINGS Rotary 4 0 1.000 Lions 3 1 .750 Milne ...... - 3 1 .750 Elks 2 3 .400 Kiwanis 1 4 .200 Columbia 0 4 .000 In action only once during the week in the Cedar City Little League the Rotary Bangers, a never say die club, came from behind Monday evening against the Elks Rulers to score their fourth victory and maintain . a perfect record, four wins and no losses. In the opening inning of play the Elks Rulers tagged Jeff Mar-chant, Mar-chant, on the mound for the Rangers, Ran-gers, for two runs and held their opponents scoreless. In the second, sec-ond, however, the Rotary club pushed one run across the plate and in the third they scored two runs to take a 3 to 2 lead. The Elks bounced back in the top of the fourth with a single score to tie up the ball game. Not until the last of the fifth frame did Rotary again take the lead with two more runs, 5 to 3. Gilliam was on the mound for the Rulers. In other action Wednesday evening eve-ning Danny Lindsay, centerfleld-er centerfleld-er for the Lions Club, broke a three inning 1 to 1 tie against Kiwanis with a home run with one man on base. The Lions went on to score a 6 to 1 victory behind be-hind the steady pitching of small, but strong, Leigh Rosenberg. Rosen-berg. The game kept the Lion Tamers in the running for league honors. They are now tied for second with the Milne Truckers. Columbia Mines suffered two defeats during the week's action. Last Thursday they lost out In a marathon against Milne Truckers Truck-ers 15 to 13. Columbia pounded Roberts and Stokes for six runs In the fourth after tabbing five in the other three frames to take a fourth inning lead of 11 to 6. The hard hitting Milne nine, however, bounced back with four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth for the victory. Tuesday evening Kent Smith pitched the Kiwanis Club to a 22 to 2 victory over Columbia. A grand slam home run in the fifth inning bv Calvin Hair, wfs the high mark In the contest. Milne on Friday evening upped Its record to three wins against one loss when the 'Truckers downed the Elks Ruler 9 to 3. It was Larry Anderson's game all the way. Milne tabbed Don Matheson for seven runs in the first two innings and held the Rulers scoreless for the first four frames. Elks scored two in the sixth but the rally couldn't match the early Milne lead. |
