Show Bruce Decker to Take California Post, Vacancy Not Filled According to word given out from the office of the superintendent superin-tendent of the Iron County schools, Bruce Decker, coach and physical education director at the Parowan High School, Is leaving leav-ing the district to take a position in the junior high school at Ontario, On-tario, Calif. Supt. Ianthus Wright of the district states that Mr. Decker informed him last week of his Intention of leaving for the California Cali-fornia position. And Mr. Decker Deck-er informs us that in his new position he will handle physical education In the 7th and 8th grades of the Ontario school which has an enrollment of about 600 students in those two groups. He states that there will be no competitive coaching and very little if any classroom work. Also Al-so the remuneration is considerably consid-erably higher than that in this district, he states. Decker will remain here for the summer recreation rec-reation program and move to California in August. Decker came to the local high school two years ago and has done a very good job in his department, de-partment, taking his basketball team to the state tournament in both years. He also had a fairly fair-ly successful fqotball year in 1954 winning more games than the school has done for some time. Supt. Wright states that nothing noth-ing had been done as of the first of the week to find a successor to Decker because of his being busy with the special week's school on the Kellogg -Study, but that this week he would start a search for a replacement. He also stated that while he hasn't found a sue-cessor sue-cessor to Mr. Laws in the business department of the Parowan High school, he has lined up a replacement replace-ment for Miss Phyllis Hall in the home making department, but Is not at liberty to make any announcements an-nouncements until after the regular reg-ular meeting of the school board next Monday. |
