Show Two-state Meeting To Study Highways to Be Held The future of America's highways high-ways will come under detailed scrutiny on Wednesday, June 15, when more than . 100 prominent Utah and Idaho public officials, industrial leaders and civic planners plan-ners will be guests of the Utah-Idaho Utah-Idaho "Highways for Survival" Committee luncheon at Hotel Utah. Chairman of the Utah-Idaho organization or-ganization is Charles C. Freed, prominent Utah automobile dealer deal-er and former president of the National Automobile Dealers Association. As-sociation. Mr. Freed also serves as national vice chairman of the inter-Industry Highway Safety Safe-ty Committee, In announcing the luncheon, Mr. Freed stated that "two out of every three miles of our roads are inadequate' and one out of every three is unsafe on a national level. le-vel. Our present outmoded and dangerous highways are in fact costing us more than the improvement im-provement program would cost." Completion of a limited access 40,000-mile interstate system sys-tem within H years. 2. Continuance of Federal Aid for other roads at adequate levels. le-vels. 3. Financing the project by a method which will insure completing com-pleting It economically and on scheduled time. |
