Show Cedar Residents Are Members of Water Color Society (A Utah Water Color Society has been organized in the state with Cedar City people prominently promin-ently associated with the organization. organi-zation. The society, an important addition ad-dition to Utah's art culture, was organized through the efforts of Grayce C. Solomon, Salt Lake City, who has been named as Society So-ciety president. In announcing the establishment of the society socie-ty Mrs. Solomon stated that with the growing interest in all parts of Utah to art and the greater number of practicing artists, professionals pro-fessionals and amateurs, it was felt there was a need for such a group. Gaell Lindstrom, prominent artist ar-tist of Cedar City, has been named as vice president of the society, while Dr. Reed W. Farns-worth, Farns-worth, who as chairman of the annual Cedar City spring art exhibit, ex-hibit, has been prominent in the promotion or art appreciation in this part of the state, will serve as a director. Charter members Include Grant Wright, former Cedar City artist now living In Los Angeles; Mrs. Eliza Fillmore, Provo; Florence B. Drake and Myra Powell, Og-den; Og-den; Dr. Homer Clark and Herald Her-ald Miller, Salt Lake City; Bax Blaine, Spring City, and Calvin FJetcher, Logan. Purpose and function of the society so-ciety will be to encourage water color painting generally to facili tate exhibitions by aquarellists and to create Interest along the lines of the American Water Color Col-or Society, according to Mrs. Solomon. Sol-omon. There will be a professional and amateur group, with the chairman for the latter section to be named later. The society Is not affiliated In any way with a nv other local organization. A group meeting will be held at which time arrangements will be made for the society's first exhibition to be held In Septembers, Septem-bers, the organizers state. |
