Utah Power .... 3 4 .430 Utah Const 1 5 .107 Things have been happening lately in the Cedar City Pony League and most of the happenings happen-ings have been to the advantage of the Southern Utah Power Company Com-pany nine. Completing the first half without a win the "Reddy Kilowatt" boys have captured three wins in the past two weeks to move out of the cellar position posi-tion for the first time this year. This week they staged a four inning rally to push across eight runr. and went on to edge out the Utah Construction crew by a score of 11 to 10. Trailing in the fourth by a score of 8 to 2 the power nine got hot at bat and forced the construction nine into the cellar position by reason of the win. In other action of the week the Arden Dairy crew, leading by one and one half games in the second sec-ond half, downed the second place Utah Parks team by a score of 8 to 1. Gary Anderson, on the mound for the dairymen, pitched a one hit ball game. That solitary hit came in the bottom half of the seventh inning with two men away. Steven Yergensen. facing Anderson, one pitch away from a non-hitter, pounded out the only hit of the game. Ardmi scored runs in the first and third innings and tallied four runs in the fifth. Ardens scored another victory during the week over Southern Utah Power Company by a score of 8 to 3. Ardens took an early lead and although they won by a fairly slim margin, they were in command throughout most of the contest. A shuffle in scheduling, necessitated neces-sitated by postponements because be-cause of all-star play and the recent boy scout camp, has been made. The remaining schedule of the Pony League is as follows: Thursday, Aug. 12, Parks vs. Utah Construction; Friday, Aug. 13, So. Utah Power vs. Arden; Saturday, Aug. 14, Utah Const, vs. Parks; Monday, Aug. 16, Parks vs. So. Utah Power; Tues-daq, Tues-daq, Aug. 17, Arden vs. Utah Const., and the final game of the season will be played Wednesday. Wednes-day. Aug. IS and will pit Parks 'against Arden. |
