PARMLEY Teople of Cedar City and Iron County will have their first opportunity op-portunity to really visualize the tremendous destructive power of a hydrogen bamb on Wednesday, Aug. 26, when recently released films of the first hydrogen explosion explo-sion will be shown in Cedar City. The films will be shown by the local civil defense organization organiza-tion as a means of awakening people to the need for a really workable civil defense program. People have heard and read of the vast destructive power of the H-bomb, but it is impossible for them to really visualize what could happen in the event of an H-bomb attack. The film gives a graphic understanding of the power of such an explosion. The film will be shown at the Parks Theatre at 8 p. m. Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Aug. 25, Haldow Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, county director, and Milt Sevy, deputy director for Cedar City, announce. It will be a half-hour half-hour showing, and will be followed fol-lowed by a discussion of atomic energy to be given by one of the outstanding experts olj the state. Dr. Thomas J. Parmley, professor, pro-fessor, physics department, University Uni-versity of Utah, will be present to discuss all phases of atomic energy and the possible effects of an A-bomb or H-bomb attack on our country. The public is invited and urged to see this film and hear Dr. Parmley's discussion. There will be no admission charge. |
