Show County Commission Studies Veterinarian Need The Hoard (if County Commissioners Commis-sioners in regular meeting Monday Mon-day heard a report from the county auditors in which county officials were commended on the bookkeeping practices in use i:i Iron County. The audit report indicated that the accounting procedures are adequate to protect pro-tect both state and county funds, and that county officials charged with the responsibility of handling han-dling the various funds are doing an excellent job. The question of the county employing or at least meeting a part of the cost of employing employ-ing a veterinarian for services in Uk- county was again brought before the commissioners for consideration. con-sideration. Livestock representatives representa-tives pointed out that it is important im-portant to the industry that a veterinarian be located here, both for the protection of livestock, and to carry out state required periodic testing and vaccination of breeding stock. However, they maintained, private practice is not sufficient to make the job inviting enough to keep a veterinarian veter-inarian here. The commissioners recognized the need and felt that since the slate law requires inspections, testing, and vaccination under certain conditions, it should be the responsibility of the state to assist in the program.
