Show Funeral Services Held Here for lames Tweedie Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed Tuesday afternoon in the Cedar First ward chapel for James Alexander Tweedie, 65, for many years a resident of Cedar City, who died Sunday in Henderson, Hen-derson, Nevada. Mr. Tweedie died at his home in Henderson following follow-ing a long illness. Born in Douglas, Butler county, coun-ty, Kansas, March 18, 1884. he was a son of Richard and Barbara Bar-bara Ingram Tweedie. He came to Utah when a young boy, living liv-ing first at Summit and then in Cedar City. He married Luclle Lee of Hur-ricane Hur-ricane at Parowan, July 24, 1916, and the couple resided here until un-til 1942, when they moved to Henderson. Mr. Tweedie was an active member of the L D S church, having served as superintendent of Sunday Schools in his ward and first counselor to the bishop. He is survived by his widow of Henderson, three daughters, Mrs. Gwen Sampson, Overton, Nevada; Mrs. Marguerite Klllian Los Angeles, Calif., and Janet Rae Tweedie, Henderson; a son, Richard, was killed during World War II, while serving with the armed forces. Bishop E. C. Bunker of Henderson Hen-derson ward, presided at the services, with Mrs. Juanlta Williams, Wil-liams, also of Henderson, at the organ. Speakers were Clair Hulut nf Parowan, Stake President David L. Sargent of Cedar City, and Bishop Bunker. Invocation was by B. C. Cannon of Henderson, and benediction by Charles R. Welch, also of the Nevada City. The musical program included includ-ed a song, "Oh My Father", by a quartet composed of Mamie Eck, Lois McConnell, Ray Cosslett and Myles Walker, accompanied by Reed Berrett; a solo, by a granddaughter grand-daughter of the deceased, an organ or-gan solo by Reed Berrett, and a song, "Jesus Is Calling", by a ladles double trio, under the direction di-rection of Mrs. Juanita Williams, all members of the trio being from Nevada. |
